A provenance record should be a clear, shareable description of what an item (or document) is, who created the record, what evidence supports it, and where it can be reviewed. Today we're validating the core workflow; next we'll add issuer identity and stronger signals so records carry more weight in real workflows.

A provenance record shouldn't be a single static PDF that disappears in an inbox. Over time, it can become a timeline: issuance, appraisal, restoration, transfer, authentication — with each entry adding context without overwriting the past.

Create a provenance record in minutes: upload a photo or document, review the draft, and generate a record with a unique ID and a shareable provenance view. Records include an on-chain tx hash reference on Base, which provides tamper-evidence for the on-chain reference itself. As the platform evolves, we'll prioritize accounts and issuer profiles first, then add stronger signals and optional physical verification for real-world workflows.

A Note on “Proof”

Redtail helps create and share provenance records and supporting materials. An on-chain tx hash can confirm that a transaction executed on Base at a point in time, but it does not replace expert authentication, appraisal, or regulatory product certification, and it should not be presented as official proof of compliance, authenticity, or ownership.

Records should travel with the asset — across galleries, auction houses, resellers, insurers, and marketplaces. Our goal is to keep provenance readable and useful outside a single platform, with stable IDs, structured data, and a provenance view that partners can rely on.
