"Service" means Redtail, including the site at redtail.id, the account system, and the passport lookup and verification features operated by the Operator.

"Passport" means a digital product passport published by a third party, the Issuer. Redtail does not create passports and does not issue them. It retrieves a passport that an Issuer has published, checks the Issuer's signature on it, presents the data in a common format with the source attributed, and, for a signed-in User, keeps the passport in a tracked list.

"Issuer" means the party that published and signed the Passport. The Issuer, not Redtail, is responsible for the content of the Passport and for the truth of every claim in it.

"User" means any person or entity using the Service, including anyone acting on behalf of an organisation that holds an account.

The Service is currently provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no paid plan, and no payment is taken through the Service.

This section is the core of these Terms. Read it before relying on anything the Service shows you.

When Redtail reports a Passport as verified, it confirms two things and nothing more:

• the Passport carries a valid signature from the Issuer identified in it, checked against the public key that Issuer publishes; and
• the Passport has not changed since we captured it, which we detect by comparing a fingerprint of its content.

That is integrity and tamper evidence. It is not authenticity.

Redtail does not confirm, and you must not present it as confirming:

• that the physical product is genuine, or that it is the product the Passport describes;
• that any claim in the Passport is true, including claims about materials, origin, carbon footprint, recycling, compliance, or conformity;
• the identity of the Issuer beyond the signature itself. We check that the signature matches the key published at the identifier the Passport names. We do not audit who controls that identifier in the real world;
• ownership, title, condition, custody, value, legality, or regulatory compliance.

Where an Issuer publishes a revocation list, we check it and report the result. Where the Issuer does not publish one, or it cannot be reached, we say the revocation status is unknown rather than treat the Passport as fully verified.

Redtail is not a certification body, auditor, notified body, public authority, or qualified trust service provider under eIDAS.

Looking up a Passport does not require an account. An account lets you save Passports to a tracked list and check them again later.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity carried out under your account. If the account is held by an organisation, the organisation is responsible for the people it authorises to act through it.

A tracked Passport is a reference to something an Issuer published, together with the result of our check. It is not a copy of the product, a certificate, or a document you can rely on as proof of anything (see section 2).

You may delete your account at any time in account settings. Deleting the account removes your tracked list with it. Either party may end this agreement at any time; email is sufficient notice.

You agree not to:

• present a Redtail result as a certificate of authenticity, a conformity record, or independent proof that a claim in a Passport is true;
• misrepresent what a verification result means, in marketing, resale listings, or anywhere else;
• attack, overload, or attempt to circumvent the Service, including scraping at a rate that burdens it or an Issuer, reverse engineering, or probing for vulnerabilities without permission;
• use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or infringing purposes.

We may suspend or restrict access where these rules are broken, and will act proportionately.

The Service is under active development and is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that a Passport lookup will always succeed. An Issuer may take a Passport offline, change it, or publish it in a form we cannot read.

We give no warranty as to the truth of anything an Issuer states in a Passport. A verified result means the Issuer signed that Passport and it has not changed since we captured it. It says nothing about whether the product is genuine or whether the Issuer told the truth. Do not rely on the Service as if it did.

To the extent permitted by law, and given that the Service is provided free of charge, the Operator's liability for claims arising from or related to the Service is limited to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. The Operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, such as loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption, except where that exclusion is not permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: (a) intentional misconduct or gross negligence; (b) fraud; (c) death or personal injury caused by negligence; or (d) any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

The interface, design, and codebase belong to the Operator. Passports and the data in them belong to the Issuers who published them, and are shown with the source attributed. We claim no rights in them.

Use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes the account data, tracked passports, and technical logs we process.

We may update these Terms as the Service develops. When a change is material, we will give notice at least 14 days before it takes effect, by email if you have an account, or by a notice on the Service.

If you do not accept the updated Terms, stop using the Service and delete your account before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland, and disputes will be heard by the courts of competent jurisdiction in Poland.

If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU, you keep the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of them. You may also seek help from consumer protection or alternative dispute resolution bodies. We are open to resolving disputes amicably before going to court.
